Our South African team have just returned from a fabulous shoot with Total, on a renewable energy location in a remote part of South Africa’s Northern Cape. Here’s what they have to say about the production:
It was a refreshing change working with the Total crew again. Total’s sustainability drive, and their ability to access the remotest communities on our planet, takes you to some really interesting places. A solar farm just south of Prieska, in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, was our destination this time. The local community welcomed us with open arms and we were the talk of town. Logistically it was quite a challenge to organize, due to the town’s remoteness. Even the simplest things become a challenge. Both foreign and local crews were amazing, and once again we pulled it off.
Thank you to everyone involved.
Producing, coordinating and managing the Total campaigns is always very interesting with plenty to organise – this time especially. With the renewable-energy-based location over 40 minutes away from the nearest (small) town, and over 2 hours from any major city, the logistics, planning and organising had to be spot on. But as always the local and international team was extremely professional, understanding and aware of the location and the logistics needed to complete the three day shoot. Such was the excitement of us being in the area that the local newspaper even wanted to interview and write about us and the scale of the shoot. The hospitality and courtesy shown by the locals was un-paralleled, contributing to a production that won’t be too easily forgotten.
